Injection molding can produce parts using materials such as plastic, rubber, and metal, among others. LogellMold’s injection molding services primarily focus on the production of plastic products.

Standard Plastic Injection Molding
The standard method for high-volume production of durable consumer goods, automotive components, and housings using polymers like ABS, PC, or nylon.

Insert Molding
Embeds metal or ceramic inserts into plastic parts, used in electrical connectors, threaded fasteners, and sensor housings.

Overmolding

Which Process’s Best for Your Plastic Parts? Injection Molding, 3D Printing or CNC?
Injection molding, 3D printing, and CNC machining are common processes for producing plastic products, and there are certain principles for selecting the right service provider for each process.
3 Key Scenarios for Choosing Injection Molding:
Mass Production Demand
When the order exceeds 500 pieces, the per-unit cost of injection molding may be only 1/10 of 3D printing, and the delivery speed improves with larger batch sizes.
Material Performance Requirements
High-temperature resistance (>120°C) or elastomeric properties (such as silicone seals)
Brand Consistency
The appearance textures (leather grain/matte) and color matching at the mass production stage can only achieve 99% consistency through injection molding molds.
| Factor | Injection Molding | 3D Printing | CNC Machining |
| Optimal Batch | 1,000+ pieces (steel molds) | 1-100 pieces (prototypes/small batches) | 1-500 pieces |
| Per-Unit Cost | Cheap | Medium | Expensive |
| Material Selection | 200+ engineering plastics/elastomers (ABS, PC, LSR, etc.) | Limited (mainly PLA, resin) | Limited plastics |
| Lead Time | Mold making: 7-30 days; Mass production: 1-3 days per 10,000 pieces | No mold required, 1-5 days delivery | No mold required, 3-10 days |
| Precision | ±0.1mm, VDI 3400 texture | ±0.3mm, layer marks require post-processing | ±0.05mm, mirror polishing |
| Sustainability | High (recyclable materials, waste rate <5%) | Low (resin not recyclable, support material waste 30%+) | Medium |
FAQ For Injection Molding Services

What’s the minimum order quantity for cost-effective injection molding?
When the order quantity of plastic parts exceeds 500 units, cost savings can start to be achieved. The larger the order quantity, the lower the unit cost. For small-batch orders, we recommend considering our CNC machining or 3D printing services.
How long does mold manufacturing typically take?
Standard molds: 15-25 days. Expedited: 10 days with ±0.02mm tolerance guarantee. Complex molds may require 30+ days.
Do you provide metal injection molding (MIM) services?
While Logell Mold specializes in precision thermoplastic injection molding, we partner with certified MIM specialists for metal components. We’ll manage the entire supply chain and quality validation
What’s your approach to preventing warpage in thin-walled parts?
Scientific cooling design + vario-thermal control reduces warpage by 90% for walls down to 0.5mm.
How do you verify mold durability before production?
3 or more trial runs with CMM inspection and mold flow analysis, ensuring 500k+ cycle life for hardened steel tools.
What’s your solution for multi-material components?
In-house two-shot molding combines rigid/soft materials in one cycle, reducing assembly cost by 50%. Material compatibility guide available.
How do you document quality compliance for regulated industries?
We provide full GD&T reports, material certs, and process validation data per ISO 9001 requirements.
What measurement accuracy do you guarantee for critical dimensions?
±0.001″ (±0.025mm) with Zeiss CONTURA CMM (0.0005″ repeatability). Certificates include measurement uncertainty values.
What measureDo you offer tooling ownership options?ment accuracy do you guarantee for critical dimensions?
Choose: Full ownership (mold storage $1 / month) or consignment model (0 storage fee, minimum order commitment).
Do you offer tooling ownership options?
Choose: Full ownership (mold storage $1 / month) or consignment model (0 storage fee, minimum order commitment).
How do you handle design changes after mold approval?
The cost of Engineering Change Orders (ECN) depends on the content of the changes. After the mold design is completed, if the changes do not significantly affect the production and processing of mold components, we will not charge any fees. If the change order affects the processing of already machined mold bases, cavities, etc., a fee ranging from $250 to $2,000 will be charged based on the complexity. Some minor modifications can usually be completed within 72 hours.
